Would you like to spend $ 214 for a sandwich? If the answer is yes, go to Serendipity 3, 225 East 60th Street in New York City. There you can order the Quintessential Grilled Cheese, the most expensive sandwich in the world according to the Guinness World Records. (Serendipity 3 also holds other records, including the most expensive dessert, hamburger and hot dog in the world).

The sandwich, created by chef Joe Calderon, consists of two slices of Dom Perignon champagne bread, thin edible flakes of gold, truffle butter and… caciocavallo podolico (a southern Italy cheese). All is served on a Baccarat crystal plate, accompanied by a tomato and lobster sauce. The chef explained to Guinness World Records that the sandwich should be ordered 48 hours in advance, and that the experience for our palate will be unforgettable.
